Kitkat

Kitkat is likely around 12 years old. I was alerted to him by a rescue colleague of mine. Kitkat was a stray an un-neutered Tom cat living several miles away from me. After speaking to the feeder I agreed to go trap him and get him the help he needed. Kitkat was fairly easy to trap, it only took two attempts on two different days and the second time he arrived on time and I had him.
Taking him back to the cat Sanctuary, I there assessed him. He had quite a few scars and wounds from getting in scraps with other cats, he was very dirty, hair matted, quite a few fleas and his teeth were not great either. He wasn't doing great at all. He was a nervous boy but not one bit vicious.

I got Kitkat neutured and microchipped via Cats Protection Waltham Forest. He was also blood tested and found to have FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus) which is a blood virus which lowers the immune system.  Generally only cats that aren't neutered pass it on to other cats via mating or deep wounds from fighting. There is no cure but with lots of care they can live long lives. You can learn more about FIV on the following website, it really is the best website available for it and has a lot more information and research than even a lot of vets know. https://fivcats.com

Kitkat ended up staying. He's a lovely boy, very quiet, keeps himself to himself. He doesn't generally move too much apart from when food is being prepared for him! He often begs for food by standing on his back legs, a trick I am sure he learned whilst living stray to obtain food and treats from feeders. Living as a very long term stray for many years, he is just very happy to lay on a warm bed and sleep most of the day and night. Kitkat has had two dentals since being in my care and quite a few teeth removed.
